There are numerous combinations of excursions that can be organized departing from Domus Sorrento!
Amalfi and Positano are very near Sorrento and can be reached by the local bus service. Both overlooking the sea and have many things in common such as golden beaches and picturesque caves which can only be reached on foot descending steps, winding alleyways full of quant shops and monumental churches.
From Sorrento you can take the hydrofoil to the Island of Capri, or you can hire a boat complete with crew and guide. The famous panoramic sites of Faraglioni and Grotta Azzurra can only be reached by sea.
You can admire the splendor of Capri and Anacapri by taking an excursion round the island and using the funicular and local bus service that connect the port to the piazzetta.
It is just a 30 kilometers drive from Sorrento to Mount Vesuvio, the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum, cities which were destroyed by a volcanic eruption in 79A.D. Volcanic lava, tephra and volcanic ash completely buried the entire city marking the end of an era.
The excavations, which have brought light on a part of history which was buried under lava, are of a more recent era, and today the archaeological site is entirely visible to those who wish to totally lose themselves in a journey to ancient Rome.
